Neemfest 2026 Subject description: September 18-20 - Homer, New York |
 |

Calendar Event: September 18, 2026 It's time for Neemfest 2026. Three fabulous days of live electro-music in Homer, New York. The Center for the Arts in Homer is almost the perfect venue for our type of live music. This is a festival by musicians for musicians; great performances, workshops, and sharing.
I'll be there to introduce Commanbient, a new way to make ambient music; not by performers, but by the community, (formerly called the audience).

Meg Schedel Subject description: Give Meg my love! |
 |
|
Wow! Meg Schedel will be performing at NEEMFest, chair of the International Computer Music Conference at Stony Brook in 2010 and my friend / invited guest at Kutztown University’s Planetarium in 2014, posters attached.
Family stuff going on NEEMFest weekend for me, but I swear I will pull my head out of video land (I have one premiering at the European Conference on Computer Vision art exhibit at Malmö Sweden next month) and get it back into music land soon. I am playing more banjo lately.
Please give Meg my love when you see / hear her.

It would be great to see you, Dale. I've been playing my baritone uke lately myself. _________________ --Howard

I miss you, Howard. It's nice to hear from you.
We collected ukes for starter instruments when our kids were little. My most memorable baritone uke story despite the context is the night before my Father passed in January 1994. My older sister, her husband, and I were taking turns sitting up with him. I brought a nylon-stringed baritone uke because of the low volume, playing lullabies and Christmas songs that I played for our kids. He couldn't speak because of the life support equipment, but he moved his shoulders in time to the music.
During one of my shifts I looked at the clock and realized that it was 2 AM. The beds in the Intensive Care Unit were separated only by curtains, so I stopped playing. A couple minutes later a nurse walked in and said, "The lady in the next bed would like you to keep playing, if that is OK." Of course I played for another half hour until I needed to go out to the waiting room and sleep on a couch for a while.
I vow to start contributing here when I am ready. I am playing banjo more, my three finger picking right hand has still got its chops, but my left fretting hand has some slop in the little finger. I lost my Ableton Live license and the great physical modeling software synth plugins when the licenses stayed with the university when I retired. ChucK is OK but I think I need to learn Supercollider, it's on my todo list. My granddaughter and I have been playing with using super-balls as percussion mallets, may be able to adapt something. I'll see what I can do.
Take care, Dale _________________ When the stream is deep
