Just discovered "Lunetta" but I had already been working on similar things.

I am making a few different circuits that take a logic signal via CV on a modular synth (i.e. the signal may be bi-polar and in the range -5 to +10V while the supply voltage is +/-12V). My plan was to use a single rail comparator with an LM358 (using only gnd and +12V for power and a switch threshold of about +2V). Basically I only want a positive, rising edge signal to trigger a positive voltage (logic high). This output is then connected to the input of the flipflop/gates along with a 100k pull down resistor.

Now I am wondering if I should use a schmitt trigger instead? (eliminate noise switching issues).

any other suggestions?

You might want to peruse this schematic:

http://yusynth.net/Modular/EN/COMPARATORS/index.html

This circuit will run on the positive side of the rail (it includes a provision to set the threshold <0 but you wouldn't need it for your application).

An even simpler solution would be to utilize the OR function from the Yusynth logic module (you would only need one of input schmitt triggers):

The neat thing about this circuit is that it runs on the positive rail only and uses inexpensive components. (I've built these logic circuits -- they work very well).

I got an error 404 (not found) on the second link.

Did you mean this one?

http://yusynth.net/Modular/index_en.html

edit: Oops, the page I wanted to link to is the 'Logic Gates" module on the yusynth #000 page, but the URL is the same.

That link is fine... just scroll down and select "Boolean Logic".
