I created this one:
The Republic of Elklovers
"Kill them before they kill us!"
UN Category: Corporate Police State
Civil Rights: Some
Economy: Powerhouse
Political Freedoms: Few
Location: the South Pacific
The Republic of Elklovers is a tiny, economically powerful nation, notable for its compulsory military service. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 5 million are ruled with an iron fist by the corrupt, dictatorship government, which oppresses anyone who isn't on the board of a Fortune 500 company. Large corporations tend to be above the law, and use their financial clout to gain ever-increasing government benefits at the expense of the poor and unemployed.
There is no government in the normal sense the word; however, a small group of community-minded, pro-business individuals devotes most of its attentions to Law & Order, with areas such as Social Welfare and Religion & Spirituality receiving almost no funds by comparison. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Beef-Based Agriculture, Cheese Exports, and Soda Sales industries.
Crime is a serious problem. Elklovers's national animal is the vulture, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the dollar.

The Republic of Cyxeris
"For All Humankind"
UN Category: Left-Leaning College State
Civil Rights: Excellent
Economy: Strong
Political Freedoms: Excellent
Location: the West Pacific
The Republic of Cyxeris is a tiny, socially progressive nation, notable for its absence of drug laws. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 5 million enjoy extensive civil freedoms, particularly in social issues, while business tends to be more regulated.
The large government juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Healthcare, and Education. The average income tax rate is 22%. A small private sector is dominated by the Cheese Exports industry.
Crime is moderate, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Cyxeris's national animal is the homo sapien and its currency is the grahme.

| We have all these nations. We need to ban together in an alliance. We are small and nobody knows us, so we should call the alliance The Beatles, or China, or as they call it around here, the Mob. Oh, and we better start work on our Nuclear and Biological weapons programs. And we better give Haliburton a contract in each of our nations so we won't be liberated by the USA. |

(to Mosc) you could bass as a mobster, with the right outfit and the right expression and the right Italian eatery with the right booth in the back the the correct basket of bread sticks.
Incidentally, before you guys get too excited, there is no war in the game. There is a UN, and you can join and vote on resolutions and such, but the war has been left out. It's not that sort of game.
Incidentally, this site is basicly a promotional tool for the guy's book, which I think is a wonderful marketing idea, and would suggest everyone's involvement if they support this form of personal, congenial and non-intrusive advertizing.
I will, most likely, even purchase the book.

Amusingly enough, I can already tell that, for those here who do not setup totalitarian regimes for fun, we should all get used to the presence of "...renowned for its absence of drug laws. Its hard-nosed, intelligent population ..." in our nations' descriptions.
You know, this concept would make a great massive multiplayer online RPG with full blown economies and social and political issues, war, revolutions, even civil wars and occupations. I would play the game I now visualize like silly. Hmmm...

"I don't believe corporations are particularly good or evil, though; I think it's a mistake to buy into the idea of corporations as real people. A publicly-listed corporation exists for the sole purpose of making money. It's not legally permitted to do anything else: that would be a breach of its fiduciary duty to the shareholders. Corporations are wealth-creation machines, and their employees are cogs in that machine, to be jettisoned unless they're producing. This is not the result of cruel CEOs or greedy executives: it's just what you get from an entity that has just a single, economic goal. Nobody should be surprised when we discover another corporation putting profits ahead of people's well-being, because that's all they're allowed to do."

Bladder Control
The Rogue Nation of Bladder Control is a tiny, socially progressive nation, renowned for its complete lack of prisons. Its hard-working, intelligent population of 5 million hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.
The medium-sized, corrupt, liberal government juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Defence, and Law & Order. The average income tax rate is 16%. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Automobile Manufacturing.
Crime is a serious problem, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. Bladder Control's national animal is the toadstool, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the gallstone. |

Frolicing toadstoods are indigenous to the Rogue Nation of Bladder Control, and are not found anywhere else.
Yeah, Civ was nice. This would, obviously, be realtime, which could present issues (if one nation chose to invade a neighboring nation for instance, and that neighboring nation's user were on vacation for a week.
In fact, now that I think about it, that right there makes the concept extraordinarily difficult to implement. Hmmm...
